RIVER FILM FEST 2009 will be organised by Heart of Europe Media Ltd which has been involved in international cultural projects since 1994 and which acted as international co-producer on several films by Jan Švankmajer such as FOOD and FAUST, as well as some animated works for MTV by Jiří Bárta and Pavel Koutský. As part of Prague´s millennium celebrations in 2000 Heart of Europe Media brought Peter Gabriel´s famous world music festival WOMAD to the city. An independent evaluation by Charles University voted WOMAD as the 3rd Best of all 470 Prague 2000 – European City of Culture events. The World Presidents´ Organization in Washington commissioned Heart of Europe Media to write and produce their Prague Opening Ceremony in 2002. This multimedia history of the city of Prague was held in the Estates Theatre. Heart of Europe Media developed a concept for the Austrian company Swarovski to create a subterranean multimedia exhibition (Crystalline Universe Praha) which would unite the beauty of crystal with Czech history. Heart of Europe Media is currently involved in Small Places Tour, an international project developed by Peter Gabriel and Art for Amnesty in Dublin and is developing several international TV programmes. The company was founded by Michael Havas – a former long-term dramaturge at the Summer Film School.
